Membrane Bioreactor (MBR)

Membran bioreactor (MBR) consists of activated sludge process and membrane filtration process. Raw wastewater from equalization tank first passes through fine screens (1-3 mm) to remove substances. Than the wastewater is fed to aeration section. Here will be aerated the wastewater and supplied oxygen transfer. In last section water and suspended solid separated by membrane. The treated water is collected in permeate tank and some of sludge is taken to sludge tank.

Required driving force for the transfer of water from outside to inside of module will be supplied by hydrostatic pressure or by vacuum with a pump. The concentration of sludge in bioreactor is too high and amount of sludge is lower.

The MBR process is used in place of the secondary clarifier tank and sand filter used for advanced treatment in the conventional activated sludge process.

Used microfiltration membranes has pore sizes ranging between 0.1 to 0.4 mm

MBR is one of the best solutions for the treatment and reuse of domestic and industrial wastewater.
